There are various scholarships that we fund and give out to students through the New College Registrar’s Office. These scholarships range from awards to grants and bursaries. In order to apply, pick up an application form at the Registrar’s office, 300 Huron St., Room 107.

Please note that there is a whole list of other scholarships that are provided by the Registrar’s Office itself. The ones below are the only ones funded by the NCSC. Feel free to check them out!

  1. NCSC In-Course Scholarships (For All Faculties)
    Approximately 6 awards from $200-$500 each are made to students from all faculties (second, third, or fourth year) who are members of New College. Candidates will be selected on the basis of academic excellence in the 2015/16 session, with consideration given to other awards already held.

  2. NCSC Grants (For All Faculties)
    Five awards from $250-$500 each are made to New College students from all faculties. Professional faculty members should also apply for bursary assistant through their faculty. New College Arts & Science students should apply through the Registrar’s Office. Grant awards are made on the basis of financial need.

  3. Merit & Leadership Awards: The Audrey Taylor Award
    The Audrey Taylor Award was established in 1988 by the NCSC in honour of Mrs. Audrey Hines (formerly Audrey Taylor) who was Dean of Women at New College from 1969-1987. The award was created to commemorate her years of service and commitment to the College. The NCSC hopes to honour students who show the same type of spirit and dedication to the New College community. The award is for a New College student in any faculty entering second, third, or fourth year. The recipient must be in good academic standing and have made a significant contribution to the extra-curricular life of the College. Participation in activities beyond the College will be considered, but emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s level of involvement within the College.

  4. Merit & Leadership Awards: The F.E.W. Wetmore Honour Award
    This award was established in 1965 in honour of the first principal of New College. This award is for a New College graduating student in any faculty who has been outstanding in scholastic endeavour and in New College activities. Students should have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (70%) to be considered for this award.

  5. The Centennial Award
    This award is for a New College student in any faculty and in any year except the graduating year, who is in good academic standing, is planning to return as a full-time student the following year, and who has contributed to the extra-curricular life of New College.

  6. The Katherine Grace Baker Memorial Award
    The award is made annually to a New College student in any faculty who, in the judgement of the Selection Committee, has made an outstanding contribution to college life. Preference will be given to candidates in their third or fourth year.

    Value: $500

  7. The New College Student Council Leadership Award
    This award is for New College students in any faculty completing first, second, third or fourth year who are judged by the Selection Committee to be good role models and ambassadors for the college. The student should have significantly contributed to the extra-curricular life of the college or the broader university while maintaining good academic standing.

    Value: $500

  8. The Stephanie Leung Memorial Scholarship
    The award will be made to one or more New College students in second, third or fourth year who exemplify Stephanie’s qualities of leadership and commitment to athletics through involvement in intramuarals and/or Varsity team sports. The recipient must be in good academic standing and must also meet the financial need and residency criteria determined by the OTSS program

  9. The Betty Yeoman (“Dean Mum”) Memorial Award for Residence Life
    The award will be given to a resident of New College who has made an outstanding contribution to the residence community, perhaps in quiet or unique ways, without expectation of recognition or praise. Undergraduate students from any faculty, who have lived in one of the New College Residences for the current year are eligible to apply. The recipient must be in good academic standing, and preference will be given to a student with demonstrated financial need.

  10. The Ann Yeoman (Dean Ann) Residence Award at New College
    The award will be given to a maximum of two students who have lived in New College Residence for at least one year. Candidates must have demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to enhancing residence life at the college. Recipients must be in good academic standing and are expected to live in residence for the duration of the award (one academic year – fall and winter terms). Students will also be expected to continue to make a meaningful contribution to residence life through active participation in student government, events, and other community building initiatives.
